Care & maintenance
Glass forgives soap. Bamboo prefers a rinse.
- Carafe and filter: Dishwasher-safe, though hand washing is gentler on the glass. Soap won't affect the taste, borosilicate is non-porous.
- Bamboo collar: Hand wash only. Wipe with a damp cloth, dry immediately. The dishwasher will split the wood over time.
- Stain prevention: Rinse the carafe after each brew. Coffee oils stick to glass if left to dry, especially around the spout.
- Deep cleaning: Once a month, soak the carafe in a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar for 15 minutes, then rinse. Clears oil buildup and restores clarity.
Frequently asked
What filter size do I need?
The V-shaped filter cup fits standard size 02 cone filters. The 10 oz model uses one filter, the 20 oz model can handle one or two depending on grind and pour rate.
Which size should I pick?
The 10 oz brews one generous cup or two espresso-sized servings. The 20 oz brews two full mugs or three smaller cups. If you brew solo in the morning, pick the 10 oz.
What grind should I use?
Medium grind, the texture of sea salt. Too fine and the filter clogs, the brew stalls and tastes bitter. Too coarse and the water runs through too fast, the cup is weak and sour.
Can I pour boiling water directly into the filter?
Yes. The glass is rated for instant temperature swings up to 356°F. Boiling water is 212°F. The carafe and filter will not crack from the heat, even if they are room temperature when you start.
Why bamboo instead of plastic?
Bamboo ages better, it darkens slightly over time but never melts or yellows. It is also naturally antimicrobial and does not absorb coffee oils the way plastic does.
