Care & maintenance

Ceramic burrs are gentle on flavor and harsh on soap residue. Rinse, brush, dry.

  • Rinse only: Disassemble the burr chamber, rinse under warm water, brush out residual grounds. No soap, ceramic is porous and absorbs detergent.
  • Dry fully: Leave the burr chamber open to air-dry completely. Trapped moisture encourages mold in the crevices.
  • Glass jar: The catch jar is dishwasher-safe, but hand washing with warm soapy water is gentler and faster.
  • Deep clean: Once a month, grind a tablespoon of raw white rice to scrub out trapped coffee oils. Discard the rice powder, rinse, dry.

Frequently asked

How long does it take to grind enough for one cup?

About 60 to 90 seconds for 15 grams of beans, depending on grind size and how fast you crank. Fine grinds take longer. Coarse grinds are faster.

Why ceramic burrs instead of steel?

Ceramic stays cool during grinding, so it doesn't heat the grounds and push bitter notes. It also dulls much slower than stainless steel and is quieter in operation.

Can I adjust the grind while grinding?

Not recommended. Adjusting mid-grind can jam the burrs or crack the ceramic. Empty the chamber, adjust the dial, then load fresh beans.

What is the capacity?

The hopper holds about 1 oz (28 g) of whole beans. The glass jar catches up to 1.4 oz (40 g) of ground coffee. Enough for two to three cups, depending on brew method.

Which finish should I pick?

Red is bold and modern. Silver is classic stainless, matches most kitchens. Wood-grain brown is warmer, closer to furniture than appliance. The burrs and the grind are identical across all three.
