Mottled glaze · Wood saucer · Gold spoon · Microwave safe

A ceramic cup on a wooden saucer. Two finishes, the blue-grey of a winter sky, the olive green of a Tuscan hillside. The Toscana set is small enough for espresso, wide enough for a flat white.

The Toscana Ceramic Cup & Saucer is a handmade porcelain coffee cup with a wood saucer and a gold-toned spoon. Two glazes: honey grapefruit (warm amber-brown with cream) and olive green (deep forest with seafoam).

Cup, saucer, the same hand.

Care & maintenance

Porcelain is forgiving, but the wood saucer needs gentler care.

  • Dishwasher safe (cup only): The porcelain cup handles machine washing well. The wood saucer should be hand-washed with warm water and dried immediately.
  • Microwave & oven safe: The cup can go into the microwave or oven without issue. Never put the wood saucer or spoon in either.
  • Wood saucer care: Wipe with a barely damp cloth. Once every few months, rub a drop of food-grade mineral oil into the wood to keep it from drying out.
  • Spoon care: The gold tone is a PVD coating over stainless steel. Hand wash with mild soap, abrasive scrubbers will scratch the finish.

Frequently asked

How much does it hold?

About 10–12 oz, a generous American coffee cup, slightly smaller than a mug. It fits a double espresso with room for milk, or a single-origin pour-over without overflow.

What is reactive glaze?

Reactive glaze changes tone and pattern during firing, depending on kiln temperature, humidity, and placement. No two cups are identical, one might be darker, another lighter, a third more mottled.

Which color should I choose?

Honey grapefruit is warm amber-brown with cream swirls, earthy and calm. Olive green is deep forest with seafoam accents, cooler, more saturated. Both shift in tone depending on the light.

Can I put the wood saucer in the dishwasher?

No. Wood warps and cracks in high heat and prolonged moisture. Hand wash with warm water, dry immediately, and oil it every few months.

Is the cup handmade?

Yes. The shape is wheel-thrown or slip-cast, then hand-glazed. Expect slight asymmetries, a rim that's not perfectly round, a glaze pool that's deeper on one side. That's the signature of hand production.
