Finish

The hand mill belongs to the counter, the shelf, the bag. Wood warms metal, the crank turns long and even, fresh grounds fall exactly as coarse as you asked. This one looks like something handed down.

The Heritage Hand Mill is a slim cylindrical manual coffee grinder with a two-tone wood and matte metal body, a conical burr, and a long curved crank topped with a rounded wood knob. The stepped grind dials in from espresso-fine to French-press-coarse, and it comes in five wood and metal colorways. It stands roughly 6.5 in (16.5 cm) tall and sits easy in one hand.

Wood, metal, the long turn home.

Care & maintenance

Wood and metal age differently, both well. The mill gets better with use.

  • Wipe the body: Soft cloth on the metal, dry cloth on the wood-grain section. A touch of oil on the wood once a year if it looks thirsty.
  • Empty after grinding: Tip out the grounds after each use. A small brush keeps the chamber from building residue.
  • Hand wash only: Keep it dry. No dishwasher · the heat and water can warp the fit and dull the burr.
  • Burr cleaning: Brush out coffee dust monthly. A clean, dry burr grinds sharper and lasts for years.

Frequently asked

How much coffee does it grind at once?

Enough for one to two cups per fill. Load the hopper, crank it through, and tip the grounds straight into your dripper, press, or portafilter. For a bigger pot, just run a second fill.

Why the long curved crank?

Leverage. The long arm turns the burr with less effort per rotation, so you get through a fill faster and smoother. The curve keeps your knuckles clear of the body while you work.

Does the colorway change anything?

No. All five colorways share the same burr and the same metal body. Pick the wood and metal tone that suits your counter. The mechanism is identical across the range.

Can I adjust the grind for different brews?

Yes. The stepped dial dials in everything from fine for espresso to coarse for French press. Set it before you grind rather than mid-turn, so the burr seats cleanly each time.

Is this better than a small travel grinder?

It is built for the counter. It holds more per fill, turns easier thanks to the long crank, and looks like a piece you keep out on display. If you grind fresh at home most mornings, this is the one to reach for.
