Three colors, one job. A hand-sized capsule press that charges off a 12V car port, a power bank, or any USB-C cable. Espresso powder or capsules, hot water from any thermos, a real shot at the side of a road.

The Nomad Capsule Press is a handheld electric espresso maker with a rechargeable 2600mAh battery, USB-C charging, and a dual-mode brew head that takes both fine espresso grounds and Nespresso-compatible capsules. An 18-bar pump pulls a real shot in about 40 seconds. The 304 stainless steel water tank holds 3.4 fl oz (100 ml), enough for one full extraction.

The shot, off the grid.

Care & maintenance

Stainless steel and a modular design make cleanup quick, even in the field.

  • Disassemble after every use: The brew head, filter, and tank all separate. Rinse each component under running water and wipe dry. No soap needed unless you're brewing flavored capsules.
  • Dry the filter thoroughly: The fine perforations hold moisture. Shake out excess water, then leave it to air-dry fully before reassembling.
  • Reseat the USB-C cover: The port cover keeps splashes out. Click it back in place after rinsing, especially near water or in humid conditions.
  • Recharge before long trips: A full charge takes about two hours. Top off the battery before heading out so you're ready for the first stop.

Frequently asked

What grind should I use for ground coffee?

A fine espresso grind. The 18-bar pump needs resistance to build pressure. Too coarse and the water rushes through, too fine and it chokes. Dial it in like you would for a portafilter.

Which capsules are compatible?

Nespresso Original Line capsules. The capsule adapter swaps in without tools. VertuoLine capsules are too large and will not fit.

How long does it take to brew?

About 40 seconds per shot once water is loaded. Press and hold the power button for three seconds to start the pump, and the four LEDs show your remaining battery at a glance.

Can I heat water in the tank?

No. The press does not heat water. Fill it with hot or warm water before brewing. A thermos or camp kettle works well for this. Room-temperature water extracts poorly and tastes flat.

How do I charge it on the road?

Any USB-C source works: a 12V car adapter, a power bank, a laptop, or a wall charger. It runs on 5V 2A and reaches a full charge in about two hours, so a single overnight top-off covers a weekend away.
