Care & maintenance
Glass and steel forgive almost everything. Wood prefers gentle treatment.
- Glass server: Hand wash with warm soapy water. Dishwasher-safe but hand washing preserves clarity longer. Avoid sudden temperature shocks, let hot glass cool before rinsing with cold water.
- Grinder: Disassemble monthly and brush out residual grounds. Run a small handful of dry rice through to absorb oils, then discard the rice and brush again. Never submerge the burr mechanism in water.
- Kettle: Rinse after each use. Descale monthly with a 1:1 water-vinegar solution, boil, let sit 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly. The thermometer is removable, do not submerge it.
- Walnut base: Wipe with a barely damp cloth. Once every few months, rub a drop of food-grade mineral oil into the wood to prevent drying and cracking.
Frequently asked
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes. The learning curve is gentle, grind, heat water to 195–205°F (use the thermometer), pour in slow circles. The integrated scale and timer guide the process. Most people brew café-quality coffee by the third attempt.
What grind setting should I use?
Medium to medium-coarse, roughly the texture of sea salt. The grinder's dial rotates continuously; start at the middle position and adjust finer if the brew is weak or sour, coarser if it is bitter or astringent.
How much coffee does this brew at once?
The 20 oz server holds enough for two large mugs or three standard cups. Use 1 oz (30 g) of coffee per 16–17 oz of water as a starting ratio, then adjust to taste.
Can I use the kettle on an induction stove?
Yes, if the kettle base is magnetic stainless steel. Test by holding a magnet to the bottom, if it sticks, induction works. If not, use gas, electric, or ceramic stoves instead.
What if I run out of filter papers?
The dripper uses standard V60-compatible cone filters, size 02. They are widely available online and in most coffee shops.
