Care & maintenance

Glass and ceramic are forgiving. Stainless steel wants soap and water, nothing abrasive.

  • Grinder care: Disassemble once a month and brush out trapped fines with a soft brush. The ceramic burr can be rinsed under warm water, dry fully before reassembly.
  • Glass components: Hand wash the dripper and server with warm soapy water. Glass is thermal-shock resistant but not indestructible, avoid extreme temperature swings.
  • Kettle: Rinse after each use. If mineral deposits form inside, fill with equal parts water and white vinegar, boil on a camp stove, rinse thoroughly.
  • Scale: Wipe with a damp cloth, never submerge. Remove the batteries if storing the kit for more than a month.
  • Case storage: Keep the foam inserts dry. If the kit gets wet on a camping trip, air everything out before zipping it back up.

Frequently asked

How do I heat the water?

The kettle is stovetop-compatible, use a camp stove, portable burner, or any gas or electric heat source. It is not electric, so you control the temperature by watching the steam or using a separate thermometer.

What grind settings work for pour-over?

The grinder has three marked positions. Position 2 is medium grind, ideal for V60 pour-over. Position 1 is finer (for moka or Aeropress), position 3 is coarser (for French press or cold brew).

How many cups does it brew?

The server holds 12 oz, about one large mug or two smaller cups. The kettle also holds 12 oz, so you can brew the full capacity in one pour.

Can I pack this in checked luggage?

Yes. The hardshell case and foam inserts protect the glass components well. Remove the scale batteries before flying to avoid any battery policy issues.

What size are the included filters?

V60 size 01 or 02, standard cone filters available anywhere. The kit includes forty to start, enough for a few weeks of daily brewing.
