Care & maintenance

Aluminum and enamel both prefer gentle hands.

  • Hand wash only: Warm water, soft cloth or sponge, mild dish soap. The speckled enamel finish scratches easily with abrasive scrubbers or steel wool.
  • Dry fully: Disassemble after every brew, especially the gasket and filter basket. Trapped moisture corrodes aluminum and weakens the seal.
  • Replace the gasket: Once a year, or when the seal softens or cracks. Standard moka gaskets fit most eight-sided pots.
  • Handle care: Wipe with a damp cloth. The wood-look finish resists heat but not harsh cleaners, skip bleach and ammonia.
  • Storage: Store disassembled in a dry cupboard. Assembled storage traps humidity inside and shortens gasket life.

Frequently asked

How does cup size translate to servings?

An Italian moka cup is about 1.5 oz, the size of a short espresso. The 3-cup model brews about 5 oz total (two small espressos), the 6-cup brews about 10 oz (four small espressos). Add milk for Americanos or lattes.

What makes the finish speckled?

It is an enamel coating with white flecks scattered through the pink base, similar to terrazzo or granite countertops. The pattern is random on each pot, no two match exactly.

What grind should I use?

Fine to medium-fine, slightly coarser than espresso. Pack the filter basket level without tamping. Tamping compacts the grounds too tightly, stalls the extraction, and pushes bitter compounds into the brew.

Can I use this on an induction cooktop?

No. Aluminum is not magnetic and will not heat on induction burners. Use an induction adapter plate, or choose a stainless steel moka pot instead.

Does the handle stay cool?

Yes, the wood-look composite resists heat transfer better than bare metal. It stays cool enough to grip comfortably during and immediately after brewing.
