Care & maintenance

Glass and steel are easy. Rosewood is particular.

  • Glass carafe: Rinse immediately after each brew or the oils film the inside. Warm soapy water, soft brush, rinse. Dishwasher-safe if you skip the wood lid.
  • Rosewood lid: Hand wash only. Wipe with a barely damp cloth, dry immediately. Once every few months, rub a drop of food-grade mineral oil to keep the wood from drying and cracking.
  • Filter screen: Disassemble after every few brews, rinse under hot water. Coffee oils clog the mesh over time, a soft brush or a baking soda soak clears it.
  • Double-wall care: The air gap is sealed, no water gets between the walls. If it fogs or moisture appears inside, the seal is broken and the carafe should be replaced.

Frequently asked

How much longer does the double-wall keep coffee warm?

About 15–20 minutes longer than single-wall glass. The air gap slows heat transfer.

Which size should I pick?

The 12 oz brews about two cups, the 20 oz brews three to four. If you drink alone or share with one other person, the 12 oz is enough. If you host weekend brunches, the 20 oz saves a second brew.

Can I put the rosewood lid in the dishwasher?

No. High heat and detergent dry out the wood and crack the finish. Hand wash the lid with a damp cloth, dry it immediately, and it will last years.

What grind should I use?

Coarse, like raw sugar or sea salt. Fine grinds slip through the mesh and make the coffee muddy. A coarse grind keeps the cup clean and the extraction even.

How long should I steep?

Four minutes is standard. Light roasts can go four and a half, dark roasts three and a half. Steeping longer extracts more bitterness without adding flavor.
