Aluminum body · Wood handle · 3 or 6 cups · Five finishes

The moka pot is Italian kitchen DNA. This one wears a turned wood handle instead of plastic, the small detail that makes it earn its place next to the grinder.

The Bottega Wood-Handle Moka is a classic eight-sided Italian moka pot in painted aluminum with a solid wood grip. Two sizes: three cups (≈5 oz) and six cups (≈10 oz). Five colors, single-tube extraction, built-in pressure-release valve.

Italian heritage, wooden grip.

Care & maintenance

Aluminum and soap are enemies. Wood doesn't like the dishwasher. Rinse, dry, repeat.

  • Rinse only: Warm water, soft cloth, no soap. The aluminum builds a useful coffee patina that tastes better with each brew.
  • Dry fully: Disassemble after every brew, especially the gasket. Trapped moisture corrodes aluminum from inside.
  • Replace the gasket: Once a year, or when the seal weakens. Universal-size gaskets are easy to find.
  • Wood handle care: Wipe with a barely damp cloth. Once a year, rub a drop of food-grade mineral oil to keep the wood from drying out.
  • Color care: The painted finish washes well, but skip abrasive scrubbers, they scratch the paint.

Frequently asked

How does cup size convert to ml?

An Italian moka cup is around 1.5 oz, the size of a short espresso. The 3-cup model brews about 5 oz, the 6-cup about 10 oz. Two short espressos versus four.

What is the difference between Black and Black Premium?

Both share the same finish. Black Premium uses a 2-step precision machining of the threading and the gasket seat, a tighter seal, a quieter pressure release, fewer drips at the joint. Same brew, sharper assembly.

Why a wood handle?

Wood stays cool longer than plastic on a hot stove, and it ages without melting or yellowing. The grip is also wider, easier on the wrist when pouring. It is a small detail, but it puts the moka closer to a tool than to a gadget.

Which color should I pick?

Black is matte and modern. White brightens a wood counter. Red is the Italian flag color, fittingly bold. Blue is calm and deep. The brew is identical, only the shelf appearance changes.

What grind do I use?

Fine to medium-fine, slightly coarser than espresso. Pack the basket level, never tamp. Tamping over-restricts the flow, stalls the brew, and pushes bitter notes.

Can I use it on induction?

No. Aluminum is not induction-compatible. Use an induction converter plate, or pick a stainless steel moka instead.

How long should it last?

Decades, if you treat it right. The body is essentially indestructible. The gasket and filter plate are wearable parts, replace the gasket once a year, the filter when it deforms. Both are universal sizes.
