Care & maintenance
Coffee oils settle in every chamber. A short rinse keeps the shot clean and the seal supple.
- After each brew: Rinse the brew chamber and water reservoir with hot water, knock out the spent grounds.
- Before storage: Empty all water and air dry, especially the rubber gasket inside the cap.
- Periodic: Mild soap and warm water, no abrasive scrubbers on the brew surfaces.
Frequently asked
Does it really make espresso without electricity?
Yes. The pump generates around 8 bars of pressure when you press, enough to extract the espresso oils through finely ground coffee. It is the same principle as a manual lever espresso machine, scaled to a handheld.
What grind size should I use?
Fine, like commercial espresso. Too coarse and the water passes through without resistance. Too fine and the pump locks up. Aim for the texture of fine table salt.
How many shots per fill?
One shot. The 120 ml reservoir is sized for a single ristretto or a short espresso. For a double, brew twice and combine.
Where can I use it?
Anywhere you can heat water. Hotel kettles, camping stoves, thermos flasks, car kettles. Hot water goes in around 90 °C, the rest is your hand.
Is it safe in checked luggage?
Yes, when fully empty and dry. The body is shock-resistant and the water reservoir seals tight. Always rinse and air-dry before packing.
