Porcelain is forgiving. Wood prefers a gentle hand.
- Hand wash preferred: Warm water, mild soap, soft sponge. The dishwasher works in a pinch, but prolonged heat and detergent dry out the wooden handle over time.
- Dry the handle: Wipe the wood ball immediately after washing. Trapped moisture between the wood and porcelain can loosen the bond.
- Wood conditioning: Once every few months, rub a drop of food-grade mineral oil into the handle to keep the grain from drying and cracking.
- Microwave caution: The porcelain is microwave-safe, but avoid heating for more than 2 minutes, the wooden handle can get uncomfortably warm.
