Blade grinder = bitter dust

You taste it before you finish the cup: that flat, ashy bitterness from beans your blade grinder shredded into uneven powder and chips.

A blade chops at random, so half your grounds over-extract and the rest barely give anything, and the cup turns muddy and sharp. A burr grinder ends that by crushing every bean to one size instead of cutting it. The ceramic conical burr set holds that uniformity, and a numbered dial lets you move from fine espresso to coarse French press and return to the exact setting that worked. Your mornings get quieter and cleaner: one crank, one consistent grind, a cup that finally tastes like the beans you paid for.

Stop cutting your beans. Start crushing them.

Care & maintenance

Ceramic burrs are gentle on flavor and harsh on soap residue. Rinse, brush, dry.

  • Rinse only: Open the burr chamber, rinse under warm water, brush out residual grounds. Skip the soap, ceramic is porous and can hold detergent.
  • Dry fully: Leave the burr chamber open to air-dry completely. Trapped moisture encourages mold in the crevices.
  • Clear catch jar: Twist the jar off and rinse with warm soapy water. It wipes clean in seconds.
  • Deep clean: Once a month, grind a tablespoon of raw white rice to scrub out trapped coffee oils. Discard the rice powder, rinse, dry.

Frequently asked

How long does it take to grind enough for one cup?

About 60 to 90 seconds for a single cup, depending on grind size and how fast you crank. Finer grinds take a little longer. Coarse grinds go faster.

Why ceramic burrs instead of steel?

Ceramic stays cool while you grind, so it won't heat the grounds and push out bitter notes. It also holds its edge far longer than stainless steel and runs quieter.

How do I change the grind size?

Turn the numbered adjustment dial under the hopper. Lower numbers tighten the burrs for fine espresso grinds, higher numbers open them up for coarse French press. Empty the chamber before adjusting, then load fresh beans.

How does the catch jar attach?

The clear catch jar twist-locks onto the base, lining up the open and closed padlock marks on the body. Twist to lock it while you grind, twist back to lift it off and pour.

Which finish should I pick?

Red is bold and modern. Silver is classic brushed stainless and matches most kitchens. Wood-grain brown is warmer, closer to furniture than appliance. The ceramic burrs and the grind are identical across all three.
