Care & maintenance

Stainless steel and a modular design make cleanup quick, even in the field.

  • Disassemble after every use: The brew head, filter, and tank all separate. Rinse each component under running water and wipe dry. No soap needed unless you're brewing flavored capsules.
  • Dry the filter thoroughly: The fine perforations hold moisture. Shake out excess water, then leave it to air-dry fully before reassembling.
  • Reseat the USB-C cover: The port cover keeps splashes out. Click it back in place after rinsing, especially near water or in humid conditions.
  • Recharge before long trips: A full charge takes about two hours. Top off the battery before heading out so you're ready for the first stop.

Frequently asked

What grind should I use for ground coffee?

A fine espresso grind. The 18-bar pump needs resistance to build pressure. Too coarse and the water rushes through, too fine and it chokes. Dial it in like you would for a portafilter.

Which capsules are compatible?

Nespresso Original Line capsules. The capsule adapter swaps in without tools. VertuoLine capsules are too large and will not fit.

How long does it take to brew?

About 40 seconds per shot once water is loaded. Press and hold the power button for three seconds to start the pump, and the four LEDs show your remaining battery at a glance.

Can I heat water in the tank?

No. The press does not heat water. Fill it with hot or warm water before brewing. A thermos or camp kettle works well for this. Room-temperature water extracts poorly and tastes flat.

How do I charge it on the road?

Any USB-C source works: a 12V car adapter, a power bank, a laptop, or a wall charger. It runs on 5V 2A and reaches a full charge in about two hours, so a single overnight top-off covers a weekend away.

Is the capsule adapter included with the Nomad Capsule Press?

Yes. The box holds the press, the capsule adapter for Nespresso Original capsules, a USB-C cable, a scoop, a storage bag and a guide.

Will the Nomad Capsule Press fit in a car door pocket?

Yes. It is about 7.6 cm wide and 21.1 cm tall collapsed (9.2 in extended) and weighs about 586 g. It also charges from a 12V car port adapter over USB-C.

Nomad Capsule Press vs Nomad Espresso Press: what is the difference?

The Capsule Press has an 18-bar pump, a larger 2600mAh battery and a 304 stainless steel body, and it comes with a scoop, capsule adapter and storage bag. The Espresso Press has a 15-bar pump, a 2000mAh battery and a steel and ABS housing. Both take fine ground coffee or Nespresso Original capsules, and both need you to add hot water.
